Hawke Sport Optics Vantage 6-24x44mm Rifle Scope 1in Tube Second Focal Plane Review

Let’s Dive into Hawke Sport Optics Vantage 6-24x44mm Rifle Scope 1in Tube Second Focal Plane

The Hawke Sport Optics Vantage 6-24x44mm Rifle Scope 1in Tube Second Focal Plane is a versatile optic designed for a range of shooting applications. Manufactured by Hawke Sport Optics, this scope aims to deliver clarity and precision at a reasonable price point. Its variable magnification, side focus parallax adjustment, and half mil-dot reticle make it appealing to both target shooters and hunters.

I had been searching for an optic to top my varmint rifle. My old scope lacked the magnification needed for precise shots at longer distances. I needed something clear, adjustable, and reliable, without breaking the bank.

My first impression upon unboxing the Hawke Sport Optics Vantage was favorable. The scope felt solid and well-constructed. The adjustments seemed smooth and the matte finish was appealing.

I considered the Vortex Crossfire II and the Bushnell Banner scopes, but the Hawke Sport Optics Vantage won out due to its side focus parallax adjustment and reputation for good glass quality at its price. It seemed like the best balance of features and affordability. I was cautiously optimistic, hoping it would live up to the positive reviews I’d seen.

Real-World Testing: Putting Hawke Sport Optics Vantage 6-24x44mm Rifle Scope 1in Tube Second Focal Plane to the Test

First Use Experience

I first tested the Hawke Sport Optics Vantage at my local shooting range. I mounted it on my .223 varmint rifle and zeroed it at 100 yards. The initial conditions were sunny with a slight breeze.

The scope performed admirably. The adjustments were crisp and repeatable. The side focus allowed me to dial in the parallax perfectly, ensuring a clear and sharp image.

I experienced no immediate issues. The scope seemed easy to use, even at higher magnifications. The clarity of the glass was a pleasant surprise, especially considering the price.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of consistent use, the Hawke Sport Optics Vantage has proven to be a reliable performer. I’ve used it in various weather conditions, including light rain and dusty environments. It has consistently held zero and provided a clear sight picture.

I have noticed some minor wear on the turret caps from regular adjustments, but nothing significant. The scope cleans easily with a lens cloth. Comparing it to my previous, cheaper scope, the Hawke Sport Optics Vantage is a significant upgrade in both clarity and reliability.

Breaking Down the Features of Hawke Sport Optics Vantage 6-24x44mm Rifle Scope 1in Tube Second Focal Plane

Specifications

The Hawke Sport Optics Vantage 6-24x44mm Rifle Scope 1in Tube Second Focal Plane has several key specifications. These include a 6-24x magnification range, a 44mm objective lens diameter, and a 1-inch tube diameter. It features a half mil-dot reticle in the second focal plane (SFP).

• Magnification: 6-24x – This range allows for both close-quarters target acquisition and long-range precision shooting. It provides versatility for various shooting scenarios.
• Objective Lens Diameter: 44mm – This provides a good balance between light gathering and scope size. It offers a bright image without being overly bulky.
• Tube Diameter: 1in – The 1-inch tube is a common standard, making it compatible with a wide range of mounting options. It offers a balance between strength and weight.
• Reticle: Half Mil-Dot – This reticle allows for holdover and windage adjustments. It offers precision and flexibility for experienced shooters.
• Second Focal Plane (SFP) – The reticle size remains constant regardless of magnification. This simplifies ranging at higher magnifications.
• Exit Pupil: 2 – 7 mm – This is the diameter of the light beam exiting the scope, affecting brightness. A larger exit pupil makes for easier viewing, especially in low light.
• Field of View, Linear: 3.8 – 15.3 ft at 100 yds – This indicates how much area you can see at a given distance. A wider field of view is useful for quickly acquiring targets.
• Eye Relief: 3.5 in – This is the distance between your eye and the scope’s eyepiece. Proper eye relief is essential for comfortable and safe shooting.
• Adjustment Click Value: 0.25 MOA – Each click of the turrets moves the point of impact by 0.25 MOA. This allows for precise adjustments.
• Adjustment Range: 50 MOA – This is the total amount of adjustment available for elevation and windage. This is sufficient for most shooting scenarios.
• Parallax: Side Focus – This allows you to adjust the scope to eliminate parallax error. Parallax adjustment ensures a sharp and accurate image.
• Focus Range: 15 yds to infinity – This wide focus range is suitable for various shooting distances. This enables sharp focus at both close and long ranges.
• Optical Coating: Fully Multi-Coated – This improves light transmission and image clarity. Multi-coated lenses enhance brightness and reduce glare.
• Weight: 18.7 oz – This weight is reasonable for a scope with these features. It adds minimal weight to the rifle.
• Length: 14.7 in – This length is typical for a scope with variable magnification. It should fit comfortably on most rifles.
• Weather Resistance: Yes – The scope is designed to withstand various weather conditions. This ensures reliability in different environments.
• Water Resistance Level: Waterproof – This protects the scope from water damage. This is essential for hunting or shooting in wet conditions.
• Shockproof: Yes – The scope can withstand recoil and impacts. This ensures it maintains zero and functions reliably.
