Let’s Dive into Blueguns Taurus 24/7
The Blueguns Taurus 24/7 is an inert, detailed replica of the Taurus PT24/7 handgun, meticulously crafted by Ring’s Manufacturing. This “firearm simulator” is designed as a safe and realistic alternative to using live firearms in training scenarios for law enforcement and military personnel. Its bright blue color instantly identifies it as a training tool, eliminating any chance of accidental discharge during drills. I was looking for a safe way to practice weapon manipulation drills at home without the risk of a negligent discharge.
As someone involved in tactical training, I’ve always emphasized the importance of safe weapons handling. A critical part of that is dry-fire practice, but using a real firearm, even with all the safety protocols in place, always carries some risk. The Blueguns Taurus 24/7 promised a solution to this problem, allowing for realistic practice without the inherent dangers.
Upon unboxing, my initial impression was that the Blueguns Taurus 24/7 felt solid and well-made. The impact-resistant polyurethane construction, reinforced with steel, gave it a reassuring weight and rigidity. The attention to detail in replicating the actual firearm was also immediately apparent.
Compared to some cheaper, generic training aids I’ve used, the Blueguns Taurus 24/7 stood out in terms of realism. Other products often felt flimsy or lacked the accurate dimensions necessary for proper holster drills. The closest competitor in terms of quality would be other Blueguns models, but I specifically needed a replica of the Taurus 24/7 for compatibility with existing holsters and training scenarios.
I was excited and optimistic about the potential of the Blueguns Taurus 24/7 to enhance my training regime. The weight, feel, and detail of the replica gave me confidence that it would be a valuable tool for developing and maintaining essential skills.
Real-World Testing: Putting Blueguns Taurus 24/7 to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Blueguns Taurus 24/7 in my home training space, focusing on drawing from a holster, weapon manipulation drills (reloads, malfunction clearing), and target acquisition. This allowed me to assess its handling characteristics in a controlled environment.
While I didn’t expose it to extreme weather during initial testing, I did simulate adverse conditions by handling it with wet and gloved hands. The texturing on the grip proved adequate for maintaining a secure hold even under less-than-ideal circumstances.
The Blueguns Taurus 24/7 felt immediately comfortable and familiar in my hands. The realistic dimensions and weight distribution allowed me to seamlessly transition from using my actual Taurus 24/7 to the training replica. No adjustment period was needed.
After the first use, I was impressed by the accuracy of the Blueguns Taurus 24/7 in replicating the feel and balance of the real firearm. The only minor surprise was the slightly slick feel of the polyurethane, which I later addressed with grip tape.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use, the Blueguns Taurus 24/7 has held up remarkably well. It has become an integral part of my regular training routine.
Despite frequent drawing from and re-holstering into kydex and leather holsters, there are no significant signs of wear and tear. The durable polyurethane construction has proven resistant to scratches and abrasions.
Maintenance is minimal; I simply wipe it down with a damp cloth after each training session. The non-porous material prevents the absorption of sweat and grime, making cleaning quick and easy.
Compared to my previous experiences with less durable training aids, the Blueguns Taurus 24/7 has exceeded my expectations. Its robust construction and realistic feel have made it a valuable and reliable tool for honing my skills.
