Let’s Dive into Sightron SIH Series Rifle Scope 3in. Lens Sunshade
The Sightron SIH Series Rifle Scope 3in. Lens Sunshade is a simple, yet effective accessory designed to enhance the performance of Sightron SIH series riflescopes. Priced affordably, this sunshade promises to improve visibility in bright conditions by reducing glare and lens flare. For years I have used scopes without sunshades, often squinting into the sun during early morning hunts.
I had grown tired of washed-out images and the inability to clearly see my target when the sun was at a low angle. Therefore, I decided to try a sunshade and the Sightron product seemed like a good place to start. Upon unboxing, the sunshade felt solid; it was made of aluminum with a matte black finish, which matched my SIH scope perfectly.
I had considered universal sunshades, but opted for the Sightron model to ensure a seamless fit and consistent aesthetic. My first impression was positive. This wasn’t some cheap plastic afterthought. It appeared well-made and ready to tackle harsh sunlight.
Real-World Testing: Putting Sightron SIH Series Rifle Scope 3in. Lens Sunshade to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Sightron SIH Series Rifle Scope 3in. Lens Sunshade during a late-season deer hunt in Montana. The area often has bright, reflective snow cover. The morning sun, usually a visual nuisance, was significantly mitigated by the sunshade.
The improvement in visibility was immediately noticeable. Previously, glare would force me to wait for the sun to rise higher before making a shot, but with the sunshade, I could see the deer clearly as soon as legal shooting light began. The sunshade screwed on easily and required no special tools. I had it ready to go in seconds.
Extended Use & Reliability
After a full hunting season, the Sightron SIH Series Rifle Scope 3in. Lens Sunshade has held up impressively. There are no visible scratches or dents, despite being exposed to snow, rain, and the occasional bump against tree branches. I simply wipe it down with a soft cloth after each use.
Compared to my previous experiences of squinting and struggling with glare, this sunshade is a game-changer. It significantly enhances the clarity and usability of my Sightron scope. The difference is particularly noticeable during sunrise and sunset, when the sun is at a low angle.
