Let’s Dive into Safariland Single Mag Pouch With Els Kit
The Safariland Single Mag Pouch With Els Kit promises quick access and secure retention for your 1911 magazines. Safariland is a trusted name in law enforcement and tactical gear, and this pouch aims to bring that reliability to everyday carry and professional use. This particular model is designed for 1911 magazines, features an STX finish, and is configured for right-hand draw, plus it includes the ELS (Equipment Locking System) kit for versatile mounting options.
My journey to finding the perfect mag pouch has been long and often frustrating. I’ve dealt with pouches that were too bulky, didn’t retain magazines securely enough, or were just plain uncomfortable to wear for extended periods. I needed a pouch that was streamlined, reliable, and adaptable to different loadout configurations – hence, my interest in the Safariland Single Mag Pouch With Els Kit.
Upon unboxing, the first thing I noticed was the solid construction. The STX finish looked durable and the pouch felt reassuringly rigid. The weight was minimal, suggesting it wouldn’t add significantly to my overall load.
Compared to other mag pouches I’ve used, like generic nylon pouches or even some Kydex models, the Safariland stood out due to its robust build and the ELS system. I considered a Blade-Tech option, but the ELS system of the Safariland offered greater mounting flexibility, and the injection molded construction felt more rugged than some of the softer nylon options on the market. I also briefly considered a HSGI Taco pouch for its supposed universal magazine compatibility, but ultimately preferred the dedicated 1911 fit of the Safariland for better retention.
I was excited to try out the Safariland Single Mag Pouch With Els Kit. The promise of secure retention and quick access, combined with the versatility of the ELS system, made it seem like the ideal solution for my needs.
Real-World Testing: Putting Safariland Single Mag Pouch With Els Kit to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Safariland Single Mag Pouch With Els Kit at my local shooting range. I used it during a practical pistol course that involved rapid magazine changes and movement. The pouch was mounted on my range belt using the included ELS fork.
The pouch performed well in the dry conditions of the range. I found the magazine easy to draw quickly and re-index, even under pressure. There were no issues with retention – the magazine stayed securely in place during movement and didn’t require constant adjustment.
The ease of use was impressive; I didn’t need any significant time to get accustomed to the draw angle or retention. The ELS system allowed for quick adjustments to the pouch position on my belt. The only minor issue was the initial stiffness of the STX material, which made the first few draws slightly less smooth.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of weekly use, the Safariland Single Mag Pouch With Els Kit has proven to be a reliable piece of gear. The pouch shows minimal signs of wear and tear. The STX finish has held up well against scratches and abrasions.
Maintenance has been straightforward; I simply wipe down the pouch with a damp cloth after each range session. The pouch has retained its shape and tension without any noticeable degradation. Compared to my previous nylon pouches, which tended to become loose and floppy over time, the Safariland has maintained its structural integrity.
The Safariland has definitely outperformed my previous experiences with other mag pouches. The secure retention, quick access, and durability have made it an indispensable part of my range setup. It gives me confidence that my spare magazine is always readily available when I need it.
