Specter Gear CQB Sling, M-4A1 for Magpul Collapsible Stock Review

Let’s Dive into Specter Gear CQB Sling, M-4A1 for Magpul Collapsible Stock

The Specter Gear CQB Sling, M-4A1 for Magpul Collapsible Stock is a tactical sling designed for M-4A1 carbines equipped with a Magpul collapsible stock and a side-mounted front sling swivel. Marketed by Specter Gear, this sling promises enhanced weapon maneuverability and accessibility for both right and left-handed users. This review delves into its real-world performance, build quality, and suitability for various tactical and recreational applications.

I initially sought out the Specter Gear CQB Sling because my existing two-point sling on my AR-15 build felt cumbersome during dynamic drills at the range. It was always getting in the way. I wanted a sling that offered versatility in carrying positions and rapid transitions without sacrificing weapon security.

Upon receiving the Specter Gear CQB Sling, I immediately noticed its robust construction and simple design. The 1.25″ webbing felt durable, and the ambidextrous design was immediately appealing. The absence of a front adapter was a slight drawback, as I had to ensure my rifle was already equipped with a compatible side-mounted swivel.

I did consider the Blue Force Gear Vickers Combat Applications Sling (VCAS) and the Magpul MS4 Gen 2 sling. Both are reputable options, but the Specter Gear CQB Sling stood out due to its advertised ambidextrous capability and reportedly secure fit with Magpul stocks, all at a competitive price point. My initial impression was one of cautious optimism, hoping the sling’s performance would match its promising features.
