I have a Colt 45 1911 and holster. I can't find another one like it. It has a chrome finish and plastic handle grips. Serial #2143680. The leather holster is marked with US enclosed by an oval on the front flap and on the back BOYT with 43 under it. It has a small crescent near the right top of the grip and a 5 on the trigger guard. Those are the only markings. What is the value of this pistol?

the reason you proably can't find one like it may be because they weren't chromed for service use ,,it may have been a parade or honor guard pistol that was chromed at some time after the war,,at least i never heard of any being chromed,,and it wasn't really a practice of having a shiny gun in combat,,to easy of a target for snipers,,but i have seen chromed 1903 +0a3 springfields used for parade and and honor guard use,,to a colt collector they'd be curio that some would want just to have one in there collection but most would pass on because most collectors aren't intrested in guns unless original or something that can be documented as a specif weapon used by someone or at sometime in history,,i've seen german lugers that were bringback guns that vets had chromed after the war and they really didn't command the prices that unchromed versions brought,,so i'd guess on yours is one of the above reasons is why it's chromed,,unless you could put a name on it as being presented to some high ranking officer then i'd say the value would be lower than a standard colt 1911a1,,i do remember also i beleive there were commemerative versions available from a collection house that usually don't bring high dollars because they were made to be collectable ,,value is a hard thing to tell without really seeing what you have ,,but i'd say mabey somewhere between 500-1000,,and thats just a guess,,i beleive when we sold the chromed luger at the shop i work for we got 650 for it,, so i'm kinda baseing it around those figures,,if the same pistol wouldn't have been chromed it would proably have brought around 1000 or more ,,so it's a call shot to what exactly it might be worth and your best bet would be at auction or to a colt collector looking for an unusual version of the 1911 for his collection,, as for your holster ,,if it's a brown one i'd say around 75-150,,if balck id say 40-around 100 depending on the condition,,
