I received a walther 7.65 selbstlade-pistole in a will. The clip spring is broken, otherwise, like new condition. Unaware of what this gun was, I took it to a local weaponry dealer to replace the clip who explained that it was very rare and with that very valuable. Apparently it has a blank right side that makes it close to the year 1915. I have done alot of research and would love to find out it's value. Thank you in advance.

This sounds like a model 4, which is not particularly rare, actually it's not rare at all they made a LOT of these. Even in excellent condition I don't think more then 300-400 tops. Maybe I have the model wrong since the 4,5,and 7 serials are intermixed but I don't think so. Can you post a picture or search the web for a Walther Model 4 and see if that's it. Note the front of the grip behind the trigger is flat note round a quick way to identify a model 4 from 7, 5 is a completely different.

hello guys the left side ejection is common to the md 4,,and as silicon scortcher said is not really rare and his prices are right on,,the model 6 is the rare bird but it was chambered in 9mm,,according to my books only 2 early walthers were chambered in 7.65 or (32acp),,they were the model 3+4 and the model 3 is the higher priced of the two models and could bring around 1000+ in exc condition..

Thanks bigcurt. It seems that I was majorly misinformed!! My piece is in almost immaculate condition, for whatever reason it has very minor surface rust on the grip. Any good advise on removing it? I also plan to put this piece in a safety deposit box, any prep I should do? Thanks in advance...
