hi trophy hunter,
your 94 was manufactured in 1942, value should be 500 - 600 in good condition. pre ww2 winchesters are considered to be the best of the lot. winchester put alot of hands on finishing and fitting on these rifles.

Looking for a value on my Winchester 94
The serial number (988137) tells me it was built in 1926 (?). It is in overall fair to good condition and has a saddle ring.
-Model94 - Winchester-NICKLESTEEL-30W.C.F. (on the barrel)
thx -Tom

I have some light rust pitting on my Winchester 94 NickleSteel rifle and I am wondering what I should use to remove the rust. Or if I should, because I am going to sell it and maybe it would be better left on?
Also, I will be unemployed in nine days so are there any house hold items I could use vrs. a particular rust remover recommendation? Just trying to save a buck.
thx - Tom

if it's actual pits not much you can do beside refinishing and that will definatly take the value down,,if it's whats refered to as freckling.. a light surface rust with tiny spots and no deep pits..you might want to try a 000 or 0000 steel wool,,the wool shouldn't scratch the finish and it will usually remove light surface rust..i usually use it with a light oil like wd40,,3 in one or gun oil or something simular and clean it in a back and forth motion.. you don't have to push super hard unless the rust is really bad,do a little where it's hard to see and see if it will remove what your talking about and not damage the blueing,,most of the time this should be enough to remove light surface rust..
