Could you please provide me with an estimate or value of my rifle and the year it was manufactured? The serial number is 1370964. It is in fair condition.

Thanks!

this is another one of the mystery years production winchesters made during the ww2 period between 1943 and 1947,,no records are available but serial numbers at the end of 1942 were 1221289 and in 1948 the numbers resumed starting with 1500000,,book value in fair condition would be in the 400-600 range depending on the orginalality and function,,dealers would proably offer in the 250-400 range depending on how bad they want it..

Thanks bigcurt!

I've got another one for you if you are interested. This rifle was handed down to me from my grandfather. I was told it was a Springfield Enfield(?)M1 30.06. It is definately a military rifle with military sights. The only markings are on the barrel near the bolt receiver. They are "U.S. Model of 1917, Eddystone" with a number below this "860616". The rifle weighs approximately 13 pounds. Any idea on actual manufacturer, date of manufacture and value?

Thanks for you help!

no problem this is an easy one,,yes it's a us military model 1917 enfield,,these were introduced during the first world war because of a shortage of rifles and were patterened after the british P14 enfields which remington and winchester produced for britan during ww1 but were redesigned for the 30-06 cartridge ,,they were produced by winchester ,eddystone and remington, here in the new configuration and saw service thru ww2 and many were sold to the britts during ww2 for home guard use,,there were around 2200000 produced during 1917+1918 and the majority were made in Eddystone Pa.this is a very popular action for sporter rifles today because of it's strenght and many have been converted to big bore rifles,,your rifle if still in military configuration with full lenght stock would book in the 250-800 range at auction or a private sale ,,dealers would value it at between 250-350 mabey a little more if extra clean,,and as a side note this rifle is the forunner to the model 30 remington sporting rifle.
