I just recently inhereted a winchester model 70 220 swift bolt action. The serial number is in the early 400000's and I estimated based on research that it was produced in 1953. The gun looks in good shape with checkered grips and very little wear. I do not plan to sell it I just want to know what I have in my possession. Any idea.
I also inhereted a remington model 760 gamemaster 30 06 SPRG pump action with the serial number in the late 100000's. The gun is slightly worn and again I just want to know its value. I plan to use this gun as my deer hunting rifle but would like to know what I have in my possession. Thanks for any help.

The model 70 in 220 swift, being a pre-64 and a desirable caliber could be in the $1500 plus range depending on the shape, i.e. blueing and stock condition. They're no longer making winchester and the pre-64 models are being sought after.
As for the 760, also depending on condition you're looking at somewhere in the $350 - $450 range.

Thanks for the response. I started to try and do some research on the 220 swift and saw some of them going to 2200 that were only a year or two older than mine. I'll probably clean it oil it and shoot it a few times and put it up as an heirloom for my future son (or daughter) when I pass.

It's a great gun and great varment caliber. You can't go wrong keeping it, the value is only going to go up.
