I have three and need all possible information on manufacturing dates, Long Action or Short, production stock type (one has a synthetic stock and I want to replace with an original) etc.
Serial Numbers are;
G1959080 - XTR Sporter 30-06 Sprg (syn stock)
G1135029 - 7mm Mag Monte Carlo stock
G1209957 - 30-06 Sprg
I think this will be a lot of work for someone to gather the information. I am will to pay a resonable fee if necessary.
Thank you, Paul

bigcurt,
Thanks for the reply.
#1. I did not know that there is such a thing as a medium action (#1). I have been shopping for a replacement stock on ebay and all I have seen is LA and SA.
#3. This has a MC stock. I bought it for the top end value you stated. Is this a LA?
The stocks I have been looking at give a specific barrell length. At what point does the barrel length stop at the receiver end?
Thank again for your time and the reply.

hello again ..i didn't know about the medium action either but my books list the xtr rifle as having a medium action ,,i would have said the 2 30-06 models were both long actions but when i looked the prices up for the xtr model they had it listed as a medium action,,i was puzzeled also and i still beleive there long actions ,,but then i started to think and the 7mm and 300 winchester mag models do take a longer cartridge so mabey i was wrong on the action lenghts ,,they also state that the mag models are 3 shot mags model where as the 06 and down calibers are 5 shot mag boxes ,,,i'm still on the roof with the sa and la models and i even tried to find info on the action lenghts and couldn't find a site that gave any info that i thought was useful,,
,,as for the barrel lenghts the barrel is measured from the end of the chamber ,,in other words open the bolt and look inside the chamber ,,you shound see where the locking lugs engage into the receiver and the face of the chamber is where the bolt rests against the end of the barrel measure as close as you can from the face in front of the lug resess as you possibly can ,,theres usually around an inch of threads inside the receiver,,i beleive your 30-06 model should have either 22 or 24 " barrels so i'd say if you get 21 to the edge of the receiver there 22 " and if you get over 22 then there proably 24" barrels ,,and they did offer a 26" barrel but that would be over the 24 mark to the edge of the receiver so it should be easy to tell if you have a barrel of this lenght,,
