Trying to get an idea of the value of one of my dad's old rifles. It is a winchester model 55 cal 25-35 and I have learned that it is a takedown model.

the model 55 winchester was a simplefied version of the md 94 rifle and only 21,000 were made between 1924-32,,you have the good caliber value wise and current values are between 900 fair -2000 excellent at auction or to a winchester collector,,

I had one when I was a teen. My grandfather bought it new. My son now has it. Depending upon its condition, it could range between $800-$2500. Cabelas has two model 55's for sale and are asking more than $2000 for each. They have photos so you can compare the condition of your gun to those being sold.

Good luck,

Jim,

A good friend of mine is preparing a research paper on Winchester Model 55 rifles. He is trying to survey as many rifles as possible to look at minor production changes and history. Would you be willing to give me a detailed description of the rifle so that the data can be included. He is looking for caliber markings, butt plate types, sights, etc. All information will be held strictly confidential and highly appreciated.

Thanks so much for your consideration
