I have a Winchester mod. 94 in 32 win. spl.with gold lettering and a covered wagon scene on the left side and a gold prospector on the right side .The ser.# is 5097583. It has never been fired. When was it made and how much is it worth? It has the large "Rifleman" style lever.

hello ,,winchester started making commemorative model winchestere in the 60s and the 94 was discontinued in 2006..they made alot of different variations and yours is proably a gold rush model,,but they did make some for private companys also if it is a gold rush model book value for it new in the box is around 800.00..the issue price was 240 back in 1974 they made two versions of this model ,,both were canadian issue rifles so the books say.. and they made 10500 of the standard model and also made a dawson city model that is limited to only 25 guns but this model is valued at 8500.00 because of the scaracity of it ,,i've never seen either example and most value guides don't show pics of the different models ..i'm still looking thru my refrence books to see if i can find any more info on the markings you provided and if i find anything i'll make a follow up post and let ya know what i find

hello again ,,well i think you may have a winchester wrangler model ..it was made in 1983 and came in 32 special with the large lever loop..i thought at first it may have been a commemorative model but looking closer at the description for the wrangler it came with a roll engraved western scene and the rest seems to fit your rifle well..book for the wrangler is 400-500 in excellent condition

Thanks.I had an old man come up to me a few weeks back and tell me that he had a rifle that he wanted me to buy. He continued to tell me about this Savage mod.99 in 300 Savage that he bought in 1940. The story went on till I said that i would like to see it ,at which time he took me to his car and opened the trunk. Had to have it ! He said that since he turned 83 recently ,he realized
that he didn't need to hunt anymore and knew
that I would respect it and take care of it.
I felt honored that he selected me .He has more items that I will gladly recieve.
