Johnson,

Your rifle was manufactured in 1885. By that time the Model 1873 was being made in .44-40WCF, .38-40WCF, .32-30WCF and various .22 rimfire cartridges. If the rifle is truly in excellent condition with lots of blue and no flaking or rust areas it could be valued somewhere in the 5 to $6,000 range. But it has to be excellent. The configuration of your rifle is a standard sporting rifle and there were 702349 Model 1873's made, so there are still quite a few out there to compete with. The value for these rifles, if they do not have any special order features on them, is solely determined by condition or, if it can be proven to have a unique verifiable history. The cleaning rods are about a $200 bonus. Send me, or post some good clear photos. Do not use a flash! They glare often hides the details.

These rifles are lots of fun to shoot. Two inch groups at 100 yards should be very doable. I'll look for photos.
