Greetings all,

I have inherited aWinchester 1907 self loading rifle in 351. Is this gun worth rebarreling given the scarcity of ammo? Does anyone know of alternative chambering possible for this gun for example 9mm Largo, .30 carbine etc.

The gun is not in good enough condition to be collectable, but might be a fun shooter if it could be chambered in a relatively common and inexpensive caliber.

Good rifle, Tod.

I've shot .38 Super, 9mm Largo, 9X19 and 9X23 in 'em.

Chamber was too tight for the 9X23.

Bullet too short in 9X19 to feed from magazine.

Largo and .38 Super both fed from the 5 round magazine.

Never did get good, reliable semi-auto functioning.

Because the weight of the slide is such an important part of the blow-back equation, I decided not to experiment with the old things, and passed 'em on.

If I were a reloader, I'd go for .38 Super cases and load 150 grain or heavier bullets as far out as I could, to come close to original overall cartridge length.

Good luck.
