I have a Winchester 32 W.C.F. with an octagon barrel. Unsure of the model number or value. Can someone help? I've attached an image.

The serial is 740XX. Sorry for the duplicate posting.

Thanks in advance for your help!

hello ,,you have a winchester model 1885 low wall rifle ,, what is the barrel lenght ,,there were rifle models and carbine models and in rifle calibers the barrel lenght is determined by the caliber ,,i don't have exact lenghts available but the 32 wcf was the most common caliber along with the 32-40,,the carbines will have a round barrel so i beleive yours must be a rifle model,,it should have wood to almost the end of the barrel with grasping grooves on the sides of the forarm,,values for the low wall rifle would range between 1200 good -2000 exc,,from your pics i'd estimate yours as being good + but these prices are for complete original guns with original wood and finishes,,cutdown model will value less and refinished model will also bring lower prices ..

jwlehman,

Can you repost the image? For some reason it is not coming up with your question. Bigcurt wrote
it should have wood to almost the end of the barrel with grasping grooves on the sides of the forarm
This would be correct if it is a musket configuration. The typical Model 1885 single shot rifle has a more standard length fore end that is nearly a third of the barrel length. There were many different calibers, almost 60, barrel lengths, and barrel weights available in this model. You may see a three or 4 stamped on the bottom flat of the barrel just in front of the end of the fore end. See the attached photo.
