I have a winchester 30-30 model 1894 serial # 135068. It looks as though the barrel has been swaped at some point as the stamp on it reads model 64 30 W.C.F. I was wondering how this might effect the value. The rifle is nice condition and has been in the family as long as I cam remember.I will attempt some photos.
Thanks,
Craig

hello are you sure it's a model 94 winchester? they looked simular except the 64 had a pistol grip stock as opposed to the straight grip on the 1894,,and also the 64 had a half lenght mag tube ,,serials numbers ran concurrent with the 1894 so that could throw ya off somethimes and may be a good one to have a dealer look at..if the barrel was changed sometime in it's lifetime it will effect the value to a dealer greatly ,, the serial number you gave if for the 1894 would put it as being made in 1897 and would be quite valuable in original condition,,the model 64 was made from 1933-1957 and may show some of the same serials# ranges as the 1894,,so you really have to know which one ya have.. photos may help alot!

rifle with the shorter mag.not sure if you can see it in the picture or not but the barrel has a darker blueing than the mag and the receiver.
any info you might be able to give would be greatly appreciated. I have no plans for selling it but it would be nice to know what it might be worth and when it was manufactured.
Thanks for your reply.

nice old gun ,,the receiver half was definatly made in 1897,,the front half was made between 1933+1957.. value i would say is between 400-650..
too bad you don't have the original back half of the 64 and the original front half of the 94 ,, you'd have 2 valuable guns,,just think somewhere theres a 64 with your 94 front half on it..
