I'm looking for a little help on what this gun may be, worth and condition you think its in. My Dad said it was special ordered new by my Grandpa and has been keep in the family. All the options don't seem to add up to any models that I find in gun books.

Should be 18 pictures on the link http://s547.photobucket.com/albums/hh447/splashgtp/

Model 1894, Serial # 589221, 20" barrel, 32 Win special, saddle ring, pistol grip, crescent buttplate, checkered, capped forearm, full magazine

Thanks for your help!

i'll answer bothe questions ,,the first one made in 1911..winchester would build a rifle how you wanted it if you paid the premimum prices for them so yes it is possible that yours was special ordered ,,as for prices yours should merit a hands on evaluation from a qualified winchester collector or contact the cody museaum and mabey pay for there research letter ..that way you'd have provanance for your rifle,,prices could easily exceed 5000 to a collector with proper provanance,,on the sceond winchester serial 442285,,yours was made in1908 and sounds like a standard carbine version ,,prices for it would range from around 700-2000 in good -very good condition at auction or to a winchester collector..remember on just about any used gun that dealers will offer 30-50% of book values depending on condition and how cheap your willing to sell them for.,,so always ask the dealer what he's willing to pay for your gun first.. and know what there selling for at auction sites like gunbrokers.com before time ,,he will always want you to tell him your price ..because usually most people don't do there homework and think it's just an old gun and it can't be worth much ,,but on the other hand remember the dealer has to make a profit also and he won't pay top dollar for it no matter how clean it is ...
