Hello,
I have a Winchester 1894, with a patent date of August 21, 1894, lever action and a #8 and #13 on the bottom of the housing action, octagonal barrel, 32 WS, rifle with a crescent butt, blade front sight, dont know how to describe the rear sight accept as made by lyman and added after mfg of rifle, and serial # 484909. What is its current value.

your winchester was made in 1909 and the lyman site was the site of choice back in this time frame for winchester lever guns ,,in the condition described i'd estimate the value at 1000+ to? to a collector or at auction,,older guns seem to be holding there value in the collectors eyes ,,winchester offeresd many options on there guns and it's possible that if you could afford the rear site.. winchester may have offered it as an option.

Was it the serial number that determined that it was mad in 1909?
