Family member has a Winchester Model 1892 32-20 serial number 834978 in fair condition. Can someone tell us the year it was made I'm thinking late 1930's to maybe 1940's and I maybe very wrong. The rifle is in fair condition and operable, what might be a ballpark value? Thank You for any help, she is thinking of selling and we should get it appraised

hello ,,your winchester is a little older than you figured ,,from the serial number provided it was made in 1917 and is very desirable being a early one ..value i would estimate at between 1000-1500+ depending on condition and possibly alot more at auction or private sales to a winchester collector,,.a hands on appraisal would be the best way to go but be aware of shady dealers trying to buy it for nothing..most dealers would proably offer between 300-500 for it but don't accept any less than 800 minimum for it! and thats only if your desperate,,do some more research on some of the auction sites like Gunbrokers.com or auction arms search winchester 1892 or just winchester and you should find some like and around the same age as yours ..before you make a mistake and sell too cheap
the moneys just as good to your family mamber as it is to a shady dealer!
