I have a win model 12

Low 700,000 ser # ( made in 1936 )

the wood is in like new condition the metal is very rusted.

Barrel is great, chamber is fine, and internals are oiled and shiny.

Just wondering what one of these would go for in any condition

I believe it is the Standard model
Full Choke
and at least 30" barrel maybe the 32" i don't have a tape on me.

hello,,well first off the rust will hurt it alot..if ya clean it up some i bet ya could get 200-250 ar mabey more,,heres a suggestion for cleaning it,if the rust is very bad then the metal may be pitted underneith the rust,,if it's surface rust then try some 000 or 0000 steel wool and light oil,,if that doesn't seem to do anythinggo down to 00 ,,if it's still a bear to get off you may have to go to a wire wheel,,try to get the buttstock off if possibleand try to take off the barrel if ya can get them off take off the forarm..don't try to take the metal sleeve outa the forarm because it's not really nessasary,,just remove the forarmwith the slidesleve intact,,then take it over to a wire wheel on a bench grinder and wire wheen it till you get the rust off,,i've wire wheeled alot of rusty guns and if there really bad it's not goint to hurt them as much as a rusty gun will hurt there value,,and you may be quite surprised at what you may find unde the rust,,it might be pretty decent if ya get the rust off,,and can't hurt the valueif it's cleaned up a little,,you should be able to find some info online for dissasembly just by searching model 12 winchester dissasembling or dissasembling a md12 winchester,,at least you could offer a cleaned winchester md 12 instead of a pile of rust,,if your careful you might be able to save a good guns from certain rust death,,and the results are pretty amazing ..alot of people might say no don't do it but i've done many guns that looked like crap before and afterwards looked great ,,there are soft wire wheels out there and still brissel i usually start with the stiff if really rusty then go to a softer wire to basically finish up with,,it's worth a couple hours of your time to bring some of the life back to an old md 12 and if it's as bad as you say it's not gonna hurt if ya can get the rust cleaned off pretty good then id say you should be able to get 200-300 outa it ,,but covered in rust you'd be lucky to get 100-150 for it as a parts gun..if ya can't get the rust off with the steel wool and ya can't get the stocks off then try useing masking tape over the wood parts several layers and use care when wire wheeling around the wood so you don't cut into the wood or damage the wood because then you will be refinishing the wood,,but if you take your time and only remove the rust you may be surprised whats underneith !i'll try to find something really rusty and show the difference when wire wheeled with a pic..

ok here ya go these 2 parts were pretty rusty and it took me longer to download the pic than to clean them,,took about 1 min or less on the wire and if ya notice it really didn't even remove the blueing from under the rust ,,and this was with a standard wire wheel ,,not the soft wire ,,results are pretty amazing compared to how rusty it was!and really easy,,please note i'm not recomending useing wire wheels on bench grinders to clean up all old guns but if it's pretty bad with rust it is something to help it not hurt it,,

Thanks for the advice! I will try the wire brush. I have a sand blaster and usually just shoot them with alum oxide but that means i have a total refinish on my hands. Id rather try and just get the rust off first.

if you do blasting and refinishing heres something to try ,,next one ya do after you blast it take it to the wire wheel and remove the flat finish look and then reblue it,,gives a military rifle that nice light blueing look they came with and hard to tell from original..easier than buffing..
