#Anty advice appreciated!

Spike,

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the brands you mentioned. I have some of each, and they all perform impressively.

Spike, I see you are also in Austin. My advice on an AR is: If you care about resale, go with Colt or Bushmaster. Otherwise, 1) get a mil-spec lower, I don't think it matters to much which one you get. 2) Muzzle breaks look cool (well some are ugly), but they arn't needed and make the gun WAY louder. 3) I prefer a light gun, so I would get a 16 inch barrel, and not a heavy one at that. 4) Mil-spec barrels are good because they have crome chambers (not crome molly, but crome). You will have fewer problems with extraction if you have one of these. If a dealer say this is BS, ask for a written guarentee that you can shoot 200 rounds of wolf steal case ammo with out a jam. Bushmaster makes a good cromed barrel. 5) A 1:9 twist rate is good for all sorts of ammo. 1:12 is good for 55 grain, 1:7 is good for 62 grain. 6) Match target usually means tighter tollerances and a heavier rifle. It always means more money. They are more accurate, but the AR is very accurate anyways. 7) Check some of the web sight out for kits. JT distributing, Olympic Arms, Rock River arms. Figure out which style you want. Kit guns can be had for a lower price. $100-$150 for the lower, and $450 for a kit. (About 550-600 for a rifle thats about $150 cheaper than a Bushmaster. You can always use that $150 and get a barrel from Bushmaster.) JT distributing claims to use colt fire control parts in there kits. If this is true, they would be top of the line. You might want to ask how assembled the kit is also. Some tools are required. (punches) and some may be required (Vice, barrel wrench) Chris

Spike, I have a Bushmaster that I use for coyotes and fox. As long as I clean it according to the manual, function is flawless. This rifle is used in heavy timber for calling coyotes and fox and on occassion there is a need for multiple shots as more than one 'yote or fox will show up. I suppose you can pay more for an AR clone, but this one serves me well enough.

If you're looking for a Highpower gun go with a RRA . You can get a complete RRA DCM rifle from Patrick Stanley at www.kyarms for $815. I bought my RRA NM lower, had John Holliger tweak the trigger (sweeet) and John hand built the RRA upper (part of his RRA 'upgrade' package) with weights. Still paid less than $1000 and have a damn fine rifle. If you want details (contact numbers etc) e-mail me. Later,

When making these comparisons, please don't overlook Fulton Armory. I think we stand up very well against others, most emphatically when quality and value is considered.

We humbly request you visit

Thank you.

Is that RRA rifle the standard A2 model that retails for $825 or the NM-A2 that retails for $1200?
