I recently purchased a Colt .45 from a friend that got himself in a bind. It is in pretty good shape aside from a little wear. The left side of the pisto reads "COLT'S PT F.A MFG. CO HARTFORD, CT U.S.A. and list all the patened dates as well as the logo, and on the right side COLT automatic calibre .45. the serial reads government model C1 778. I dont believe the grips are original

is the serial number you gave complete.. or is it C1778xxx,,The serial number with a C indicates a Commercial model made for the public,,and the correct serial number is important to determine the value..because early 4 digit number will have a different value than a 7 digit number..let us know
