Hi,

I am curious as to the value of my Model 94 30/30 Lever Action Rifle. It was handed down from my Grandfather and may have even been his fathers. The rifle indicates that it was made by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co of New Haven, Conn. The only numbers I can find on the rifle are 51 and they are located in front of the trigger. It fires beautifully and is in good condition. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Ben

hi ben,
it's possible that the s/n is actually 51, the last s/n listed for the year 1894 began with serial number 1 and ended with 14,579. . if 51 is correct a first run 94 in what looks to be very good condition could be quite valuable. 1500+++. a hands on appraisal would be in order to get an accurate value. Ben,

A serial number of 51 would definitely be of interest and of increased value. The serial number is located on the bottom of the receiver just below the wooden fore end. As in the photo attached, I hope. From your photo it does not look like there is any blue left on the receiver and it may have been buffed or sanded in the past to the point that the serial number is gone. I have seen that happen numerous times.
There should also be a caliber marking on the left side of the barrel between the rear sight and the receiver. Sometimes there are small numbers very near and in front of the trigger that are factory inspector numbers stamped on the rifle. Please post some more photos to clear up these questions.
