Dear Guest
Are you sure it is a Model 10? The model number was applied to the M&P revolver only after 1957. The S-series was applied to (pre-Model 10) M&P revolvers from 1945-1948 only. I cannot find any record of one ever appearing on the K-Frame Model 10.
The S-series of numbers was applied by S&W to N-Frame revolvers, beginning just after WWII and ending in 1970.
An S was appended to the serial numbers on the Victory models to indicate that the hammer block had been installed, but these K-Frames never carried the Model 10 designation. Besides, the serial number in that case would be SV XXXXX, not simply "S."
My best guess from what you have posted is that you have a fixed sight M&P from the late 1940s that does not carry the Model 10 designation.

JP
