WHAT IS MY MARLIN 336RC WORTH I BELIEVE IT IS A 1948 SN# E27150? I am not an expert but I got this gun from my grandpa before he died, it looks to be in good shape. I dont think the stock is walnut it is some other wood, so I dont know if they repair the gun at some point
Your Marlin lever action Model 336RC carbine does appear to be first year of issue. The Model 336 was an improved Model 36 and was introduced in 1948. It was made in both rifle and carbine configurations, yours being a carbine.
If the stock has been replaced, there is no collector value associated with the gun. In typical used condition, it is worth around $350.
Thank you How do I know if the stock has been replaced for sure? And if you don't mind what is the value if it is all original and is 7/8 out of 10. If it has a replaced stock and no collector value I am putting a scope on it and I will keep hunting with it

One more thing, Dallas.
If you want help deciding whether the stock is original, post a couple clear photos here - including both sides of the gun. I'll try to see if I can determine whether it has been replaced.
Thank you very much for your help. Talking to my dad and looking at pictures of other marlins I know this is the original stock walnut stock. You confirm my original intentions, buy a nice inexpensive bolt action with scope to hunt with. And leave the Marlin as is having a nice gun that grandpa gave me that one day his great grandchildren can have. My wife couldn't understand why I needed a whole nother gun, but your advice helps
Great! Good for you.
To see if the stock is original, remove the butt stock, it will have numbers stamped in the tang area that will also be in the serial number. E.G. 271, 7150 possibly the E also.
