i was given a husqvarna vapenfabrixs a.b. 30.06 U.S. rifle. im not sure how old it is...but i do know that it hasnt been fired in roughly ten years. im using it for hunting season this yeah and need to site it in. what ammo would you suggest...its just a pretty old gun, so im a little nervous. help me please! oh and i can get a picture up if need be

your rifle is a comercial version of the famed mauser action and any comercial load should work well in it as long as it's in good working order,,if in doubt have a gunsmith check it out!! just to put your mind to ease,,i have a 30.06savage 110 and i like just about any 150 grain bullet made out there with a prefrence to remington core lok bullets ,,150 gr is all you should need for whitail sized game ,,if you go to a thicker skined game such as moose or bigger bears i'd suggest a heaver bullet in the 180-220 gr but the recoil is greater because of the heavier bullet,,so i'd pick up some 150 gr factory ammo and take it out and shoot it..
