I am trying to locate the serial # on a Ward Western Field Rifle, Model 87-SB87-TA. I have found the patent numbers but where is the serial # at??

hi silky,
i found out your firearm was made between 1938 and 1945, it's the same as a stevens 87. S/N should be on the left side of the reciever but could be just about anywhere montgomery ward wanted to put it that day,, JMHO

Thanks, it has at least four patent number but one number starts with the letters "RE", all the numbers are on the right..

A lot of pre 1968 rifles did not have a serial number or neither were they required.
