I own a fully engraved silver in 7.65MM cal PPK with serial #193341. It is stamped with eagle over N on frame next to serial #, and eagle over N on barrel receiver. Also on the receiver is a mark that looks like 66 with a red stag looking antler laid horizontally with six points on it next to (to the left of)the eagle over N stamp. This unusual stamping makes me wonder if this gun was special ordered to commemorate the taking of a 6X6 red stag bull, or maybe to identify membership in an exclusive hunting club. Does anyone have any idea of the true origin of this weapon, or possibly how much it is worth? Thanks and here are some pictures of this beauty:

Thank you Kim. I tried to post a similar thread over at the Walther Forum, but they haven't activated my account yet after registering yesterday. I have several more pictures if you need them.

hi again indymac,

The mark you describe - half an antler, and the number, 66, is the Ulm
Proofhouse stamp and the date it was proofed there.

Your Walther was made in Ulm-am-Donau by Waffenfabrik Carl Walther in 1966. The
eagle [called a Bundesadler or federal eagle] over N is the definitive nitro
proof of the weapon.

As for value you'ld have to get someone with alot more resourses than I to give you a realistic value.

Thanks for your time and effort on this Kim. I guess I should have titled this thread "Vietnam Era" then. The reason I thought it was WW II era was a result of reading this reference:
http://www.whog.org/ppk/historypt2.htm

Your source makes sense though. I can't recall exactly when my dad first discretely showed me this fine pistol he had just acquired (without my mother's knowledge), but 1966-1968 (pre-1968GCA) seems to fit. He was very concerned about this legislation at the time.
