My father passed away not to long ago. In his things we found a Walther PP pistol in it's original leather flap over top Holster with holder for extra clip. the gun looks to be in excellent condition and he brought it back from Germany where he was stationed during WWII. All marking on the gun are in German except for the serial no. There are 2 markings on the ejection port cover and on the body that look like a phoenix bird. I have no picture at this time, but I was wondering what it could be worth. If it is worth alot i might think of putting it someplace safer than my dresser drawer. I have not fired it and intend on keeping it in the same condition that I found it in.

Thanks,
Russ9

I'd love to have a photo and as far as I know a good (even not excellent) condition is worth around 2,000 and in your case probably more because of all the exras

Hi Nancy,

Just a few new things since I posted my email the 1st time. One the holster has no markings on it. The stampings on the body and on the ejection port cover look like a "Phoenix" or "Eagle" over the letter "N". I will try to send a picture in the near future. When I said "in Good or Excellent" condition, there are no scratches or dents on the body except for some light rubbing where the body under the barrel rubs the holster. I looks like the original bluing on the gun. The gun sat up in my parents cubbyhole for over 60 yrs. before we found it. Thanks for getting back to me in such a short period of time.

Hi, I agree with nancy but bring backs with holster and mags with matching #s can easily get into 4K+ range. S/N would help finding particulars for that weapon.

Nancy & Kim,

Here is one picture of the my father's Walther PP. It seems that you can only attach only one picture at a time on messages. I uploaded the other pictures into the general population photos.

Hi Nancy,

I sent a picture to Kim the other day. I will attach one to this message. It seems that you can only attach one picture at a time to a message. I have 3 more.

Thanks,

russ

Hi Russ,

Did you manage with the pictures?
I can't see even one picture attached.

I'll see what I can about attaching several pictures on one post.
Till I'm done, you can upload pictures photobacket, and use the tag.
This way you would be able to show several pictures on one post.
Again, this is just till I'll arrange a better solution on our end.

I also have a Walther PP that my dad brought back from Germany during WWII. Inside the holster he inscribed his name and serial # which are still visible. Also after he passed away, I was going through some papers and found a Certificate issued to him by the Headquarters of the U S Armed Forces European Theater which gave him owernership of the captured enemy property. Don't know if this adds to the value or not but I thought it was a pretty cool find.

I have posted 4 pictures to the General Community photo Gallery. 2 show the holster opened and closed and 2 showing both sides of the Walther.

Hello,
I have a Walter PP Serial # 991120. It was obtained from the Germans in World War II. Its in the original box with instructions and 3 clips. It is like brand new. I also have the original Certificate from the " Headquarters United States Forces European Theater dated Sept. 28, 1946 stating that this pistoal was captured from the enemy.

Are you able to provide me any history of this pistoal.

Thank You,
Mr. Getter

Hi Kim,
I have posted 4 pictures of my dad's Walther PP in the photo album section. 2 pictures show the holster closed and opened, and 2 shots of the PP from each side. Could you look at them and give me a idea what this gun is worth.

Thanks,

Russ9

Sorry...the "Eagles" on your P-38 don't mean it was issued to the Luftwaffe....great theory though...

The "Eagle/N" is a Nazi-era commercial inspection stamp. The Eagle/359 (or E/WaA359 on later pistols) is the military acceptance stamp (Waffenamt) on Walther pistols issued to Army and Waffen-SS as well as the Luftwaffe. Walther P-38's usually have an "AC" and date on the slide. "AC 41" and early "AC 42" Walther P38's have E/359 stamped on the small parts too, making them popular with collectors. Sounds like you've got a great war trophy...would love to see photos...
