I have a buddy that has a Walther P32 that he acquired during WWII. It was liberated from the Walther plant during the invasion. It's new (at least as new as a 48+ year gun can be), never fired, two magazines and has the Nazi markings. There's no box or anything else with it. It looks like a PPK and was supposedly issued to German officers.

He was curious as to the value so I said I'd research it for him. I've been able to come up with a picture but not much more. Does anybody have any links where I can find some info on this gun and an idea of its value?

Thanks,

If the story is true I'd say it's worth at least $500. That's about what SOG is selling some Walther PPs with Nazi markings for, supposedly in VG condition. If it's really unfired and the magazines match (I don't think they were numbered by the end of the war) then it's probably worth quite a bit more. Sorry, not PPK links, but try this site: http://www.p38forum.com/ There are a lot of knowledgeable people there and can point you to the right place for sure.

Hi,

Two things increase its value over blue book. First of all, it's a 'non-import'. That means it does not have the importer's name stamped on it somewhere, a legal requirement after GCA 1968 was passed.

The other thing is the connection with your buddy. If you can put together its 'provenance'- that is, have a signed, notarized statement from him of how he obtained it, with a photocopy of your buddie's discharge papers, rank, insignia, etc., will increase its value. Better yet, if there are papers giving him permission to keep it- most didn't bother getting these, as a handgun was easy enough to sneak aboard in a duffel bag- including that with the gun would also increase its value.

Ken.
