I have a Winchester Model 1894 32 Special Caliber Nickel Steel barrel rifle (saddle ring model). It was manufactured August 21st, 1894 in New Haven, Connecticut - I cannot find a serial number.

The gun was given to me by my father-in-law over 40 years ago and is in good condition.

What is the approximate value?

Thanks, Charlie

i'd say it's pretty valuable,,the serial number should be stamped either on the top tang or the bottom tang behind the triggerguard,,or below the loading door on the bottom of the frame ..,,how did you date it without a serial number?value for an early md 94 might hit 1000-2000 easily,,to a winchester collector,,or at an online auction ..but would be depending on the amount of original finish's remaining..

Thanks for the information.

I looked at the gun again and can find no serial numbers.

Also, I may have the manufacture date wrong. The exact wording on the barrel is "Manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co New Haven Conn USA Patented August 21st 1894" It then states "nickel steel barrel especially for smokeless powder - 32 W.S.

Also, with the action open, the return block has the letters F C V engraved from manufacture.

It appears the original finish has been varnished.

not sure why it doesn't have a serial number,,thats the only way to tell when it was manufactured and without knowing when it was made i can't give a value,,the date on the barrel is just a patent dates and it isn't when it was actualy made ,,keep looking unless someone has removed the serial number it has to have one ,,if you have to.. remove the tang screws on the top and bottom and look under the stock ,,there may be a number there ,,but thats not what you have to usually do to find the serial number ,,
