hello ,,your winchester should value between 650 poor-fair to 1000+ G -VG and it could go even higher depending how a collector veiws the condition ,,originality is a key to collectors paying preimums values and rifles with original wood and metal finishes will demand higher prices over guns refinished or reblued
,,as for cleaning the rifle up,, i'd try a good furniture cleaner on the wood if it's really dirty and just some light oil on the metal surfaces ,,if theres rust on the metal surfaces you want to remove i'd try a 0000 steel wool and light oil and lightly scrub it down ,,don't use corse steel wool and don't scrub it like crazy and try to scrub in one direction and "know when to stop",,so you don't do any damage to the metal finishes ,,then wipe the metal parts down with a good light oil and put it back in your gun cabinet..if ya take it out to show someone make sure ya wipe it down before putting it away again ..
,,finish on the stocks should look the age of the rifle and collectors know these guns were not safe queens all there life so expect to see bumps and bruises,, over new looking finishes on metal and wood so they aren't looking for perfect rifles ,,and expect patina on metal and dings and dents in wood within reason..any holes beside the one at the end of the barrel that the factory didn't put in the rifle either in the wood or metal will detract the values greatly to collectors also,,
