I'm new here so I, first off, want to say - "Hi, my name is Mike...I'm a Gunaholic..."
Could someone tell me the "real" value of a Remington 760 in .30-'06; 2nd year production with a 4 digit serial number. It is in excellent condition with the exception of some minor gouge marks where a former owner replaced a the original butt plate with a recoil pad and, by the look of it, tried to "fit" it with a dremel tool.
I have a Blue Book, so I know what IT says, I'm looking for something more realistic.
TIA

I believe the real world value of you rifle is around 350 to 450. It depends on who wants it. Alot of 760's are out there, so they're not quite a collectable. I have one in .257 roberts and I love it. Accurate and reliable as they come. The down side of the slide action is they aren't as strong as a bolt action. You won't get the full potential of the round. They are excellant rifles and good meat guns. But as a hand loader, I find them limiting.

i agree with shooter ,,the 30-06 version is the most common caliber and many many were made ..in my part of the country the going price seems to be in the 300-400 range,,and they do seem to be trickling up in value ..more so in the odd calibers ..but theres alot of people looking for the 760 models these days,,so prices can only go up in years to come
