Huh? Remington is the OLDEST gun maker in America!

E. Remington, Remington and Sons, Remington Arms, Remington UMC get's you up to 1912. I know very little to none on the 1903's
But if IF 11-42 is November 1942 it's serial no would be between. 3,258,658 - 3,295,838 *

*this is based on Clark Campbells (plant managers) estimates as presented in 1955.

Remington started code stamping the barrels in 1921 I suspect they also 1903 then. If so there would be two letters that also confirm this but it would be RL (no dash).

I wish I knew anything about these but RA could be Remington Arms but earlier rifles were also stamped RW for Remington Works.

hello it sounds like your looking at a 1903 or a 1903a3 springfield made by remington during ww2 it may be a ww1 rifle with a new ww2 barrel ,,it should be marked on the top of the receiver and should say model of 1903 or 1903-a3,,now for the next question is it in military configuration with a stock that runs almost to the end of the barrel with a upper handguard or has it been cutdown and does it look like a sporting rifle??? if it looks like a sporting rifle i's proably been sporterized by someone at some time ,,and values are much lower than a military version .. there is a chance that it's a 1903 model that was rebarreled for the ww2 years as part of a rebuild for service around the time we entered ww2,,the marines were issued 1903 rifles early in the pacific campaign untill the m1 garand replaced them as the main battle rifle issued to troops ..at which time the 1903 and 1903a3's were used mainly for home guard and training and in sniper roles..

,,military versions of 1903's will bring 450-800+,,sporterized examples mabey 250-350 depending how nice it was done,,for 1903a3's military examples from 400-600+ depending how correct it is ,,for sporters proably about the same as the o3 sporters ,,with the barrel date you mentioned i hardly think it was a military conversion if it's got that late of a barrel installed ,,and most proably if there a scope it's been sporterized ..

,,and the 1929 remington founding comment was a laugh!! i'd like to see that refrence book !!
