Bruce,

Thanks for the photo right up front. I do get tired of begging for them. Your rifle dates to 1949 and surely looks like it is in very good condition. You must be a darn good shot because you have the rear sight set for 200 yards. It is in the $700 to $800 if there are no problems that are not seen in the photo. Just so you know it is what is refered to as a flat band version. The front magazine retaining ring is flat sided versus rounded.

Thanks

Thanks 2bit.
I appreciate the response. I had that baby in back of my gun safe forever and decided to take it out and see if it like good wine had gotton beeter with age.
I never noticed the rear sight setting. I must have been fooing around with it before I put it away.

Bruce,

If that rifle is a .30-30 you would have been about 8 inches high at a hundred yards with that sight setting. The elevators on those sights are made to be "on" at 50 yard increments starting at 50 yards. So the lowest setting is at 50, then 100, then 150, etc. That way if you can estimate the distance to the target you just go click click and hold it dead on. Ta Da !! Vennison in the freezer. That is, if you can stop shaking long enough
