I have Savage lever-action rifle (Model 99?), inherited but with no history. It has an octagonal barrel (25.25 in. to front of receiver), adjustable rear sight aft of the tang, steel butt plate. The stock appears original with numerous scratches, a chip or two, but generally good appearance, if a little worn. On the barrel is this:

"Savage Repeating Arms Co., Utica, N.Y. USA,
patented Feb 7, 1893, July 25, 1893, cal. 303"

Forward of the lever is stamped "7935."

I don't know what a take-down looks likes; this has one screw under the forestock.

Any thoughts on its value or birthdate?
