Looking for the value of a Remington Rand model 1911A1. excellent condition. has been sitting in a box since 1944.

Have it appraised and don't let a dealer touch it. Depending on the ser#, finish and overall condition, they can go from 850 to 3500. The Remington Rand is a quality hand gun. Take care of it.

thank you. I will do just that. It has a s/n# that shows manufacture in 1942. carried by a glider pilot that was killed. it has all the US property markings. it was given to my grandfather in 1944. And then passed to me. It is very tight. looks brand new. 2 scuffs on it from a holster! It has been sitting in my safe fro 28 years. i was thinking of selling it or trying to find a family member of the man that gave it to my grandfather and see if they would like it back in their family.

It would be a great gift to the family of the pilot, but it was also a great gift from your Grandfather. Either way it is a piece of your heritage.
