Just what are the old WWI mauser action rifles worth in fair condition? I see a lot of them from every country imaginable many in some form of 8mm. There are also a zillion different calibers as well. Also what are old springfield and british 303's worth. I'm just looking for general values. Thanks

this is right up my alley,,mausers were used in both wars and some countries still use versions,, serial number should at a minium match on receiver and bolt,,bolt will have full serial and the germans used the last 3 numbers on there small parts,,band's bolt peices ,,floorplates,, sometimes isn't serialed ,,but mostly is ..stocks should be numbered to rifle also,, chambered for many calibers but most were 8mm mauser,,or 7mm mauser ,,there was 7.65 and a couple others but primarily in 7 or 8 mm,,depending on the country where they were made or used prices they can be all over the place from around a 100-over 1000 for matching german ww1 or 2 models in original configurations and not sporterized,,
springfields can be either an 03 or an 03a3,,these can run between 400-over 1000 for nice examples that are correct these won't usually have matching serial number because us rifle have proofs to match for each manufacture,,and every manufacture who made them the prices fluxuate,,
as for british rifles ,,the most common of the war rifles was the no1mkIII and the no4mk1,,the no1 was used primarily during ww1 and still used in ww2 and is still used by some forign british goverened states in africa and many were made in australia ,, the no4mk1 rifles was a primary british rifle used in ww2,,british rifles should have matching numbers on bolt receiver+ stock ,,+ the socket where the two stocks meet and sometimes mag,,but not very often,,a nice matching example would sell for between 125-around 350 if extra clean and correct,,savage made some of the no4's during ww2 for the britts and will be marked us property with a S in a square usually on the left receiver wall,, a matching savage made can easily start at 200 and go as high as 300-350,,great shooting rifles ,,there were short carbine models of the no$ called jungle carbines and they can easily be distinguished by the flash hider and shortened stocks with a rubber recoil pad,,these can go for 300-450 anaig for matching correct examples

ok heres what to look for when biddin on them german will be the best 150-400+,,isreali's are good,,200-300,spanish 100-250,turkish 100-150,yougo's 100-150,iranian 200-350 ,sweedish 150-250+ for long ones 250-300+ for short one"s.chinese100-150+ mexican 200-300,south american countries 100-350+,,these prices are actual values ,,always leave some room for resale if thats what your looking to do if you buy them,,there are more and if your planning on getting into military rifles i'd suggest buying a copy of The Standard encyclopidia of military firearms it covers just about any military surplus rifle and pistol made and used since the 1880s forward and also covers bayonets ..always look for import stamps on the barrel or somewhere on the receiver,,this drops the prices sometimes as much as in half , and always look for matching guns, also remember this ,,some of the bayonets for the military rifles can be worth more than the rifles depending on what there for ,,but you have to know what your buying or ya could get burned on resale,,i've been into military tifles sinc i got into guns more than 40 years ago and have owned quite a few and in recent years there easier to resell than sporting firearms in most cases,,a good sorce online for prices in gunbroker .com under there C+R firearms section ,,it will give you a feel of asking prices on just about anything you will find ,,and always look at items with bids because you can ask anything tou want but collectors don't usually buy something if it's at or above current values,,some other military you may come across may be japs or russians,,japs are 150-500 depending on model and matching numbers and the proof on the top of the receiver being intact..it looks like a mum flower if it's there good find if it's been ground off values are good but lower than intact examples,,russian rifles are the cheapest right now of all military rifles ,,and you can buy them from distributors for between 70-150 so don't overpay for these because there mayching or really nice because most from the distributors right now are pretty correct and nice,,thats your lesson on basic military rifles ..and if you find one for free someday you could always give it to your teacher..lol..lol..
that would be ..bigcurt..lol

sounds like you know a lot about mausers, maybe hopefully you could help me identify mine.i cant get in my gun closet now cause my son has gone hunting and took my truck keys with closet keys.lol. but its a mod 98 it has the eagle emblem on barrel under barrel on sight ring wich is also scope mount so i know the scope mount was original.i had it broke down to give good cleaning and has several numbers and letters stamped in various places.the scope is not set up high to clear the safety as i have seen in others.but the safety still functions correctly.it has pistol grip with diamond etching.plastic cap on end of grip with feather engraving.i can give you more info later if you need it,i sure would appreciate it if you can help,i have searched and beat my brains out trying to find one excactly like it.thx for your
