hello,,how bad is the rust?you could try some 000 or 0000 steel wool and some oil to try to clean it up some ,,if the rust has turned to deep pitting then i'd try a soft wire wheel on a bench grinder to remove the rust ,,it won't remove the heavy pitting but will clean the rust off,,just don't go overboard with the wire wheel in one spot because the finish will look uneven,,after your done oil it down good ,,it can't hurt if it's really bad and will definatly make it more presentable,,if you want it done professionally a good gunsmith should be able to help you for a fee,,but try not to have it refinished completly unless you plan on keeping it because it will reduce the value from original guns to a collector, unless a GOOD gunsmith does a professional refinishing.. and good gunsmiths who spend the time for an authenic refinishing job don't come cheaply, that said..your winchester even in poor-fair condition should be worth 400-700+,,if you can clean it up some that figure could double..and possibly even be even higher but don't use sandpaper on it because it will scratch the finish and may depreicate the value,,dealers won't offer ya much in the condition stated,,mabey 150-250,,so i'd suggest trying to at least get the heavy rust off,,leave the stocks alone and concentrate on the rust aeras,,but try to get the forarm off if you can before cleaning,, if your gonna clean the metal so you don't scratch the wood any more than it is.. the early 94's are a good collectors item so use care when your cleaning metal or wood and don't take anymore off than nessasary..
