This pistol bears ser.no. 87683, with patent dates in 1871, 1872 and 1875. It has the 4 1/2 " barrell and has not been altered. It has some buggered screws, missing the original grips, but is otherwise complete except for internal springs and several screws. It does have some minor pitting which I believe could be buffed out.
Is this pistol particulary rare or valuable? I suspect the ser. number is a relatively low one.

hi flyntgr,
to be that old and still in good shape it needn't be rare as they didn't make a whole lot of them to begin with if measured by todays standard. your weapon would be worth having a professional appraisal for insurance.
