I have a 12 ga jp sauer S/S. The gunsmith who appraised it said it was a post WWII model, side lock, and the blue book was $2200
How desirable is JP Sauer now?

hello ,,jp sauer made some very good sxs shotguns with german quality ..my refrence book says the md 60 was made before ww2 it came with double triggers and was a boxlock with manual ejectors,, ,,after ww2 they were made with single selective triggers and were side lock actions with auto ejectors,,the pre war models list for 500-700 and there were 3 models post war listed ,,they range from 100-1500 for the royal model,,for the artemis model available in 2 grades value is grade 1 3000-5000,,grade 2 is 4500-6500,,and the model 66 is in 3 grades ,,grade 1 1500-2000,,grade 2 2000-3000,,and grade 3 is 2500-3700,,i can't for sure tell you which one you have but i do see the double triggers and the only model shown or listed with double triggers is the pre war model listed above..there are collectors out there that collect german shotguns but the market is really slow right now and unlees you find a sauer collector it's proably gonna be tough to get book value for it inlees you go to a good auction house or online auction and the right collector knows whaic model and how rare yours is..

Thanks very much, Curt. Obviously you know what's up. the S/n is 391307 if you have a directory of dates and S/N's. No big hurry on selling this. Have you seen a Sauer collectors group?

Also the ejectors are auto, the shells pop out when opening after firing
