Gentlemen,
A friend is in possession of a Colt Government Model .45 ACP, manufactured in 1943, which has a 7.5 inch blued suppressor. This Colt is in excellent (+) condition and the suppressor is deeply blued with no nicks, dings, or rust. (It is is outstanding condition and is fully functional.) My question is: What would be a "fair market value" for this weapon?
He is aware of the tax ($200.00) requiremnet that goes along with this pistol, and it is a "wall hanger" as far as he is concerned. We are looking for a value statement for insurance purposes.
Thank you very much for your interest and assistance.
Vr,
B.H.N.

This is one of the most desireable .45 set-ups possible.
The US government had several programs designed to create a "silent pistol," but regardless of how silent it may be, the sound of the slide moving back and forth remains a significant problem. In excellent condition, this Colt .45 and silencer is worth $3500.00.

I have seen several of these silenced .45's, and they are to be treasured. I would say that if the pistol and silencer are in excellent condition, as stated, a value of $3500, is not unreasonable.
