Rob,

I actually come up with a manufacture date of 1941. But, some of the dates are incorrect from the commonly used data. A serial number search from the Cody Firearms Museum is the best way to be sure. The 1894 was definitely made in the carbine configuration but your description of long fore end isn't familiar to me. If you could clarify or better yet send some photos that would be great.

This post might help out. http://www.gunvaluesboard.com/why-i-need-photos- 254864.html#25490

Cuferay,

What are you doing with a photo of my buck??

You might have to reduce the size of the photos in order for them to post.

Rob,

Your rifle is in pretty nice condition. The only poor feature is the very thin bluing on the receiver. It might be the lighting but the barrel blue looks a bit thin and the fore end looks to be missing some of the original varnish. Your rifle would be in the $1800 to maybe $2200 range. The rest of the gun is quite nice. I am not a big fan of shotgun butt style carbines but that was the only style offered in your time period. In fact the sporting rifle configuration had been dropped from the model line some years earlier.

I really appreciate your photo efforts.

Hope this answers your questions.
