I recently inherited my fathers 1911 Colt. It was issued to him in 1943 when he was a bomber pilot with the 8th Air Force. He was shot down on D-Day and did fire the weapon against the Nazis during his rescue by the French Underground. He had the pistol accurized at the Colt factory and shot it competitively when he was assigned to the USMC in the early 1950's. It's original and in mint condition.

What is the approximate value? I intend to keep it but am simply curious.

Thanks for any help.
