Subject says it all.

Issued to my father-in-law in WWII, Serial 1431796, according to what I found on the web, it's a 1943 production firearm.
Marked with FJA above the trigger on the left side, and United States property, M 1911 A1 US Army No. 1431796 on the right side. Produced by Remington Rand in NY.
Weapon is in excellent condition. Probably hasn't been fired since the war. He smuggled it home after the war and kept it in his night stand draw from then until he died 20 years ago.
Missing the magazine. I pulled the weapon down last week and it appears to be perfect and ready to fire. We also have the original shoulder harness that was issued to him during the war. He was a USAAF navigator.

Anyone care to guess it's worth (no, it's not for sale, we need an insurance value)

Thanks

Brett Anderson

first off ,,a very nice example of a WW2 remington rand production 1911,,value for insurance replacement would be between 1500-2000,,finish looks very good and it appeares to be a correct example from what the pic shows
