Does anyone have the Taurus 450SS2C? Its a .45LC SS revolver with a ported 2' barrel. This Taurus has all the features I'm looking. Any owners out there willing to share your comments on this firearm?

This is weird. I have been eyeballing one of those as a carry gun to replace my Browning HP. Taurus has a great reputation and people I know who own Tuarus's love them. I would like to hear from people who own a 450SSC also.

Joe, I've had the 450SS2C for a while now and it hasn't been without some problems. First, let me praise it's positive aspects. It feels substantial and well made, and has a nice smooth trigger pull. I like the feel of it weight wise and the recoil is manageable with the 'Ribber' grip and ported barrel. It's pretty accurate and with the optional thinner rubber grips from Taurus I feel I can carry it concealed, even though I don't because of it having only 5 rds. That being said, I had initial problems with misfires, and a binding of the cylinder both in SA and DA. I returned it to the factory and 6 weeks later got it back. It seems O.K. now. What I don't care for about their fix-it policy is that when you get it back there is no history of the work performed or for that matter exactly what the problem was. While I sent them a detailed note on the problems they sent me back a thank you for choosing Taurus. Oh well. I hope this helps. Mike

I have this, I purchased mine from CDNN back in Feb for 269 + shipping + transfer fee. I find it is very accurate and I've put about 500 rounds through it. Since I reload I tried using a plated bullet and find it is a little cleaner using the plated over a lead bullet. I am very happy with it and a friend of mine shot it last week and hit what he was aiming at. This is a ported barrel and I have not shot it at dusk yet so if you are thinking about carrying it consider that if you are carrying at night. I think I will take mine out to the range as soon as I load up some more rounds to see what the flash is like on this. Last year about this time CDNN had both the SS and the ultralite for 269 and when I got mine they were only advertising the SS, I can imagine the Ultralight would be quite a handfull.

My wife has one in Titanium and she loves it. I enjoy shooting it too. The only problem with the gun is cleaning all of those little holes after you're done shooting.

Thanks Todd....I called my gunshop and bought it today. As soon as I get a chance to pick up my permit, I'll pick it up and let you know how I make out. I bought the SS version and not the Ultra-lite...

Hey Joe, I have the Titanium 2' ported 45 colt chambered Taurus and I love it. The porting seems to help the kick but as this is my fist 45 caliber revolver I can not compare it. I first bought the Taurus Titanium (ported) 38 special. If they ever pass a conceal and carry law in Ohio that's probably what I'll carry. I own a Colt 38 sp. revolver that is just beautiful so when I picked up the Taurus model I had to have one. IF the Taurus has the features your looking for then by all means buy it before some bleeding deacon passes a law on the caliber of gun you can own. That day is just around the corner so buy lots of ammo.

On a side note, is it me or have others noticed a difference in 45 colt commercial ammo? I carry Silvertips when I carry but I've used Magtech and PMC for practice but for the most part I reload because it is so much more economical with 45 colt. What is your favorite commercial 45 colt ammo?
Thanks,

I don't buy commercial ammo....I have 3 Dillan presses...one is set up just for .45LC. I use Hodgdon 'clays' and a 255 gr bullet.

All I can tell you is none of the commercial .45 Colt ammo I have tried (a lot of it) gives good accuracy in my Trapper 94, but the handloads can shoot out the ace of spades at 100 yards.
