A Tanfoglio 9mm. has been offered to me.

Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about Tanfoglio guns?

I spent an afternoon shooting a friend's Tanfoglio CZ-75 copy. It was a fun pistol to shoot. Not the prettiest pistol in terms of design, and the finish didn't seem to be up to the usual commercial standards, more like a wartime military issue finish. Still, it shot everything we fed into it; cheap import 9mm, CCI Blazers, Winchester white box, and even a few Golden Saber hollowpoints we tested on some frozen gallon jugs of water. (hung on rope by the handle and set to swinging makes a fun reactive target)

If you're not paying over about $300 for it, it's probably a good deal.

They're unlicensed copies of the CZ.

It's a solid design. But I prefer the original.

Bing,

If you don't buy it, you run the risk of having 'foregone purchase remorse.'

Besides, you know what they say around here... you can never have enough guns... or ammo, for that matter.

I had one for awhile. It was too much of a reach in double action for my short little fingers. Then again it was accurate and had good sights.

Geoff Who traded it off...for something or another..

Speaking of Tanfoglio handguns,(and 10mm Auto in another thread) what's the story on this 'FAR' system? Anybody have any experience with these cartridges?

From; http://www.tanfoglio.it/sportandcompetition/ farsystem.htm

'The FAR System is a new ammunition concept for semiautomatic pistol. It is not simply a new serie of calibers but a very new ammunition system.

Infact, you need to manufacture new pistols in order to accept the 9mm and 10mm FAR ammunitions. The 9mm and 10mm FAR are similar to the existing 9mm and 10mm calibers but they have a completely different case that is much thicker than the traditional one.

The case thickness allows the use of a fixed barrel on the pistols that are using a Browning-Petter system. In this way, there is an advantage in machining the slide and the barrel while the feeding and the ejection of the spent case is much more reliable because the barrel is always in the same position. This is possible because the head of the case is thicker; in the time needed for extracting the case, the bullet leaves the barrel with a consequent fall of the pressure before the case is ejected.

The advantages of the FAR-System, patented worldwide by Arch. Antonio Cudazzo are: more velocity, more precision and reliability (Fast-Accurate-Reliable). The Tanfoglio models chambered in cal. 9mm and 10mm FAR are the first pistols in the world that use the new 'FAR System'.'

tanfoglio is an excelent gun it is design with a weight that helps you "maintain" the sights in the same place but i really think the force 99 is one of the company`s best design i use it for idpa and it is excelent(for me) because i love the doble action and the safety is the best part of it now you dont have to worry about accidental shooting because it has decocking and its a doble action pistol

if you have trouble with the doble action you can put it in single yes it is a risk but it will work but in competitions they will not let you start with single action..... but remember tanfoglio is a very good gun and i will recommend you tanfoglio force 99 carry is short size 9mm but with the same effect as other firearms. hope i help you brother
