Greetings...!!

I am not well-versed in proper gun terminology so I ask your patience.

I own a Smith & Wesson Model 60 .38 caliber revolver. This weapon is a the Missouri State Highway Patrol 50th Anniversary edition; it has the Missouri State Patrol badge design factory-engraved on the right hand side of the gun, with "1931-1981" engraved immediately above the design.

The left side of the weapon has "M S H P 93" factory-engraved on the left side, below the five-round wheel.

The "M S H P 93" is the badge number of the Missouri State Trooper, from whom I purchased the weapon some 25-plus years ago. At that time, troopers were required to purchase their own weapons, and so were free to do with them as they wished when a new weapon issue was implemented.

As this is a unique, one-of-a-kind handgun, what is a reasonable valuation for it...??

Thank you for your time.

So I'm assuming the gun is NEW condition, the 60 itself is not an inexpensive handgun (550-600) but if you don't find the person who cares unfortunately that's about all your going to get for it. You need to get this to a wide audience for the exposure for sale like gunbroker and post links on S&W sites and hope to catch a collector.

I appreciate your input and thank you for it...! Unfortunately the gun is NOT new - although I have no idea how many rounds the trooper put through it, I am 100% confident that he had to qualify with it in order to carry it (even off-duty). I put another 50 or so rounds through it after I purchased it. So it is not new, but it has been in a gun case and not fired for some 25 years now.

I appreciate your comment on a potential value. Considering a gun dealer offered to buy it for $150, learning that it could possibly be worth as much as $600 is certainly heartening.

Again, many thanks....!!

Well unless it's beat to heck, it's at least $350 and up based on condition. $150 is a rip-off offer.
