I was wondering if you could tell me the age and approx. value of my Stevens double barrel 16 gauge shotgun. It's been passed down from generation to generation. The serial number is A42064.

There's a number and letter in a circle very small on the reciever somewhere. The letter tells you when it was made. A=1949, B=1950 and so on. Goes from 1949 to 1970 and skips "O" and "Q".

what if the gun has a "a" circled and a "g" circled???

Did yoou get an answer on value ? I too have an old Stevens 16ga double bbl. By the way where is the s/n located on yours ? My s/n is 13HV and is lovated on the bbl and reciever visible when you breah=k it open.
